We have a very busy couple of weeks ahead!
1. Congrats!
13 Anderson Choir students that competed in the first round of All-State Auditions will sing
in the TMEA Region choir this weekend rehearsing November 5 and 6 with a 5pm
concert on the 6th at the AISD PAC. The Anderson Region Choir students are:
Jamie Antonacci, Cadence Carpenter, Meaghan Geld, Ava Gilliam, James Hodges,
Kat Larkin, Kara Moy, Isabella Rodriguez, Sterling Smith, Sofia Thaw, Gracie Torgerson, Ryan Tracy and Sheppard Tyler.
Nine of these students will compete in the next round of All-State auditions on November 16.
Gracie Torgerson auditioned for and was selected to sing in an Honor Choir for Southwest
ACDA! Gracie competed against students from a 7 state area for her spot. She will sing at the
SWACDA convention in Little Rock, AR in March.
2. Thanks!
To all the adults who have already stepped up to help the Anderson Choir program!
Activities volunteers helped at:
Choir Retreat
Uniform Fitting
Halloween Movie Night
More uniform fitting
Upcoming activities we need help at:
Follies Rehearsal and Concerts
TMEA Pre-Area Auditions being held at Anderson
Caroling in the Neighborhoods
3. We NEED volunteers!
There are a couple events coming up quickly that we need parental help for:
Follies:
I need a couple parents who would be willing to be back stage during the performances.
Since I want you to be able to see the show as well, I’d like two sets of 2-3 adults (one
for Friday night’s show and one for Saturday night’s show). It’s a pretty easy gig of just
having a set of eyes back stage and in our ensemble room as I’ll be in the theater
conducting. Please consider volunteering for this important event to help things run
smoothly.
TMEA Pre-Area Auditions – held here at Anderson
We run this contest for the Region. There are two very important things that we need
help with:
Soup donations to serve the judges. This has been a tradition and has always been very appreciated by our judges.
We NEED 8 adults willing to sit in a classroom from approximately 7-9:30pm to monitor a maximum of 18 students. These students are in the middle of competition so are well behaved as they can be disqualified from competition. One at a time, they leave the room to compete so the number decreases. Once the last student leaves the room being monitored, the adult monitor is free to go. We MUST have adults in these rooms! Please help.

5. Fair Share Fees – we still have many students (over 30) who have not paid their fair share fees in
whole or made an installment. $75 total ($40 is required uniform rental fee, $35 is suggested
supply fee). Please do so. This can be done online at our website: www.trojanchoir.com
Most credit cards and Paypal accepted. All fees should be paid by Dec 1. Thanks. I will send
individual emails soon.
Fair share fees cover costs that are beyond the small amount of money we receive from the
District. This includes the student’s choir T-shirt, formal uniform alterations as well as repair and
replacement, accompanist fees, buses, clinicians, plus so much more. I want to continue
providing as much as I can for your students. Your fees and donations help make this possible.
6. Region Clinic & Concert – Nov 5 & 6
We have 13 students who were chosen to sing in the Region Choir this year! I’m excited for
them to have this experience and to get to perform this wonderful music as an ensemble!

Wednesday, Nov 10 – REQUIRED Dress Rehearsal – everything except the T-shirt
We will have our band, mics, lights and run everything.

It is a long night, but VERY important! We will feed the students pizza.

Saturday, Nov 13 – REQUIRED Performance at 7pm (6pm call for singers)
Adult tickets: $6 at the door
Student tickets: $3 at the door
This is the only concert of the year that we charge admission to.
Cash or checks to AHS Choir Boosters will be accepted.
8. Pre-Area Auditions – at ANDERSON – Tuesday, November 16
A volunteer spot has been sent out about this. (see above as well)
We need both parent and student to volunteer to help us with this event.
1 This includes parents to monitor 8 rooms while the students wait to go through two
rounds of auditions. This is a very easy job as the students are quite focused on wanting
to do well. PLEASE HELP!
2 We also need families to sign up to bring a soup for our judge’s meal. This may be
dropped off in a crock pot that day at any point prior to 4:45pm.
3 Finally, we need students to volunteer as runners and door monitors for this event.
A signup sheet for students is in the choir room.
Thank you in advance!
9. Winter Concert – Dec 9 – 7pm – Westover Church – with Murchison choirs
– Required rehearsal and concert – Students wear formal uniforms for this concert.
Please make sure that students have appropriate black dress shoes to wear with their uniform
for this and all other concerts throughout the year.
Tuxes: black dress shoes and black socks – NOT tennis shoes
Dresses: black closed toe flats or maximum 2 inch heal pump.
Please don’t spend a lot of money on shoes if your student is not going to wear them often.
Good reasonable cost choices: DSW, Target and Walmart!
