Choir Director

Crystle Taylor, is our new choir director and is in her ninth year of teaching. She is originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, but moved to Austin, Texas at 10 years old. She joined choir in the sixth grade at Covington Middle School, right here in Austin and remained in it, even through her graduation at Crockett High School. In 2016, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Concord University in Athens, West Virginia, but moved back to teach in the greatest state for music, Texas. Since beginning teaching in 2017 at Murchison Middle School, where she stayed for eight years, her Varsity and Non-Varsity Choirs consistently earned Sweepstakes and high scores at UIL. In May 2022 and May 2024, under her direction, The Murchison Varsity Mixed Choir took first place at the Music in the Parks Festival in San Antonio, Texas. Crystle loves making music with her students and does her best to maintain a fun, challenging, safe and uplifting learning experience. She is very excited to begin this new journey as the choir director of Anderson HS, which has granted her the wonderful gift of working with many of her previous students. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, diy projects, and spending time with her family, friends, and dog Fitz. Sometimes on the weekends you can find her performing with various musicians and groups throughout the city. As a product of AISD Fine Arts, and an AISD educator and faciliator, Crystle is dedicated and passionate about choral education. She is committed to providing positive and diverse vocal opportunities for the next generation.
