Director Notes for December 2019
We have a very busy first two weeks of December! Please read this whole email.
1. Congrats!
12 students were selected to compete in the final round of All-State auditions in January!
We also had 2 alternates that may be called up to compete!
Congrats Lauren Ault, Jamie Antonacci, Tristan Dull, Anabelle Gilliam, Rylee Grady,
Sarah Helmbrecht, Daehan Jung, Kara, Moy, Miles Nguyen, Noah Randall, Allison Tamburrano
& Natalia Thomas and alternates: Kelley McClure & Max Steinhauser
2 students were selected to the Southwest American Choral Director’s Association Honor Choir.
Kyra Ely & Kara Moy auditioned and was chosen for this wonderful choir made up of students
From throughout a seven state Region. They will perform at the Convention in Little Rock, AR
at the beginning of March 2020.
Musical: many of our choir students auditioned for and received lead roles and chorus roles in
the musical “Guys & Dolls” that Anderson willing be putting on January 23-26!
2. Upcoming calendar reminders:
Guys & Dolls music rehearsals begin this week.
Dec. 5 – St Matthew’s Noon Concert Series Performance – Chorale, Chamber Choir & Madrigals
Dec. 4 – Murchison 6th Grade Fine Arts Concert
Dec. 7 – Natural Bridge Caverns performance – Madrigals – 2-9pm
Dec. 12 – Rehearsal, dinner, and Winter Concert Performance – St Matthew’s Church
Bring uniform to school.
TIGHT SCHEDULE
Rehearsal at church: 4:40-5:20pm
Dinner & get dressed at Anderson: 5:30-6:15pm
Choir class pictures at Anderson: 6:20-6:40pm
Chamber Choir – 6:20pm
1st period – 6:23pm
5th period – 6:26pm
2nd period – 6:29pm
3rd period – 6:32pm
7th period – 6:35pm
Finale standing positions at church – 6:45pm.
Concert with Murchison Choirs: 7pm
Dec. 13 – Choir Caroling in the Neighborhood & Winter party
– All students who volunteer. 6-10:30pm
Students wear choir shirts with Santa hats or other appropriate accessories.
Jackets, gloves etc may be added if weather warrants.

3. St Matthew’s Noon Concert Series Performance – Dec 5
Chorale, Chamber Choir & Madrigal Singers will perform at this event from noon to 12:30pm
4. Caroling in the Caverns – Dec 7
Madrigal Singers performs at the Natural Bridge Caverns between 3:45-7pm in The Castle of the White Giants!
5. Winter Choir Concert – REQUIRED of ALL students:
Our Winter Concert will once again be with the Murchison choirs. We plan to take our choir formal pictures that evening just prior to the concert as well.
We will be asking for parent volunteers to help hand out dinner to the choir at 5:25pm as well as handing out programs prior to the concert. Look for an email from Megan Helmbrecht, our Booster President. Thank you!
Please make sure that students have appropriate black dress shoes to wear with their uniform
for this and all other concerts throughout the year.
Boys: black dress shoes and black socks – NOT tennis shoes
Girls: black closed toe flats or maximum 2 inch heal pump.
Please don’t spend a lot of money on shoes if your student is not going to wear them often.
Good reasonable cost choices: DSW, Target, Walmart, and Goodwill!
I will bring ties for the boys.
6. Caroling:
This will be the eighth year to do this activity. While this activity is voluntary for our students, we encourage everyone to participate. The more students we have, the more homes we are able to carol at which means potentially more support of our program and area food banks. Last year we collected many cans of food for the Capital of Texas Area Food Bank as well as almost $2700 in donations to our choir program. This event can’t happen without both student singers and parent drivers. Please consider being a driver for a couple hours the evening of December 13. Thanks. Following caroling, our choir students and adult drivers are invited to our annual Winter Choir party for cocoa etc. We will meet at 6pm and carol between 6:30-9pm. More details to come.
