Director Notes... january 2019

1. We’re proud of you!

13 of our Anderson choir students competed in the final round of All-State auditions this past weekend. These students all worked incredibly hard throughout the process. We are proud of all of them! We are also happy to announce that Daehan Jung made the All-State Tenor-Bass Choir and Miles Nguyen made the All-State Mixed Choir. Only 3 choir students from AISD and only 5 from Region 18 were selected for All-State choirs this year.

2. Skate Night is TONIGHT!

Anderson and Murchison choir members are invited to join us at Playland Skate Center from 6:30-8:30pm tonight for a couple hours of skating and fun! Cost is $6 per person. We’d love to see most of our choir students present to start building relationships with our main feeder program!

Hope to see you there!

3. Solo & Ensemble Contest:

Students must select, confirm, and pay entry fees by Wednesday, January 16!

This is a hard deadline. I can’t enter you late!

While students who take lessons should do this, the contest is open to students

who do not as well.

Entry fee = $10 per entry per person

Students will also be responsible for paying an accompanist for competition.

Some families paid this already at Everything Night.

Competition is February 23 at McCallum H.S.

More details after break.

4. Eligibility:

The current 6 weeks grading period (4th) will determine eligibility for both Solo & Ensemble Contest and U.I.L. Concert & Sight Reading Contest.

5. Beauty and the Beast:

Our school musical is being presented on January 24, 25, 26 and 27. Put at least one of these dates on your calendar to see this show!

6. Uniform problems:

If your student has any problems with their uniform: pants too short, seam has come out, dress is too short or too tight etc. Please send it to school with your student at the beginning of January so that we have time to help fix it.

7. Spring Calendar for choir

I will send out an up-to-date spring choir calendar later this week
